Siegfried Mureșan, Member of the European Parliament (EPP Group), will participate, between 12 – 14 November, as an international observer, in the European Parliament Election Observation Mission to the second round of presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova. Elections will take place on 13 November, 2016. The delegation of the European Parliament also includes MEPs Igor Šoltes (Slovenia), Janusz Korwin-Mikke (Poland), Maria Grapini (Romania) and Fabio Massimo Castaldo (Italy).

The schedule of MEP Siegfried Mureșan during the European Parliament Election Observation Mission to the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova includes, among others:

·         Saturday, November 12:

          17.00 – 18.00: Meeting with the candidates running for the presidential office in the Republic of Moldova;
          18.00 – 19.00: Briefing by OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Election observation mission.

·         Sunday, November 13:

          7.00 – 21.00: Observation of presidential elective process in the Republic of Moldova;

          21.00 <: Observation of ballots counting.

Elections will take place on 30 October 2016. The delegation of the European Parliament also includes MEPs Igor Šoltes (Slovenia), Heidi Hautala (Finland), Fabio Massimo Castaldo (Italy) and Janusz Korwin-Mikke (Poland).

·      Friday, October 28

       10.30 – 10.40: Joint parliamentary briefings delivered by the representatives of the European Parliament, Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe;

       10.40 – 10.50: Welcome addresses by Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Jose Luis Herrero, and Deputy Chief of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Stephen Young;

       10:50 – 12:45: Briefing by OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Election observation mission;

       14.00 – 14.45: Meeting with Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Alina Russu;

       15.00:  Meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti;

       16:00 – 17:00: Mass-media Roundtable;

       19.15 – 21.00: Meeting with Head of EU Delegation, Pirkka Tapiola, and Head of EU Member States missions present in Moldova;

·      Saturday, October 29
       9.30 – 11.30: Meeting with the candidates running for the presidential office in the Republic of Moldova;

       11.30 – 12.15: Briefing by OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Election;

       12.15 – 12.45: Regional briefings by long-term observers for teams deployed in Chisinau and surrounding region;
   
       14.00: Meeting with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Andrian Candu;

·      Sunday, October 30
       7.00 – 21.00: Observation of presidential elective process in the Republic of Moldova;
